The Pupil Assistant role is to be part of a team in providing the highest possible standard of educational support and care to pupils with disabilities and challenging behaviour, ranging in age from 13 years to 19 years.

Salary:                                   £15,025.92 per annum, based on a 32hr week – Point 1 on a 5 Point scale

Hours:                                   32 hours per week

Contract:                               Permanent   

 

Essential Criteria:               

QCF Level 2 or equivalent in an HSC related discipline * This criterion will be waived where the candidate has at least 12 months relevant experience in an educational/care setting AND with the expectation that the QCF level 2 or equivalent qualification will be gained within 12 months of service

Basic Numeracy & Literacy (English Language) skills

Registered or agreeable to applying for registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)

At least six months’ recent experience in a caring and/ or educational support field

Ability to work as part of a team

Ability to work under pressure

Strong effective communication skills both orally and in writing

 

Desirable Criteria:              

Qualification in Health & Social Care, Social Sciences

Experience in education or health/social care setting

Experience in dealing with challenging behaviour

Experience of working with individuals with a disability
