Project Worker - Youth Matters

The Youth Matters Service is to support young people to have opportunities to engage in weekly personal development and social activities to develop their resilience, confidence, self-esteem and build new friendships through engagement.

The Cedar Foundation deliver a range of services that enable people with disabilities, autism and brain injury to get the most out of life and to be fully included in their communities. Our services are centred around the individual needs of each person and are delivered throughout Northern Ireland supporting children and adults to live, work and to engage in their communities.

 

The Youth Matters Project Worker will be responsible for promoting the inclusion of children and young people up to the age of 18, with disabilities, autism and brain injury into a broad range of mainstream activities in their local community. The Youth Matters services offers access to a wide variety of group activities and personal development programmes. 

The Youth Matters Project Worker may provide personal care to young people where necessary and this may include some manual handling tasks.

Hours:                                  20 Hours per Week

(Due to the nature of our work with young people, the service will be delivered late afternoons, evenings and weekends.).

Contract:                             1 year plus possible extension for further 2 years

Location:                             Community Inclusion Services – (Northern Trust)

                                                Newtownabbey/Ballymena

Salary:                                  3 Point incremental scale starting on £19,554 pro rata

Essential Criteria:                

  • Basic qualification to NVQ Level 2/QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care, Youth & Community Work or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ paid experience of working directly with children and young people in a supportive capacity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Partnership Working
  • Hold a full current driving licence valid for use in the UK and Ireland and have access to a car on appointment*

 

*Successful candidates will be required to use their own personal vehicle to provide transport to children and young people
