Project Officer - Grassroots Challenge Programme (Young Farmers Clubs)

Salary: £19,715 - £23,196 per annum depending on experience. Access to employer’s contributory pension scheme to a maximum of 7% per annum.
Location: McClelland House, 10 Heron Road, Belfast. There will be regular travel across Northern Ireland and possibility of occasional travel throughout the UK and Ireland.
Contract: Fixed term: to 31 December 2020. This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Working hours will include significant evening and weekend work.
Leave: 24 days per annum plus 12 days statutory holidays.

Overview:
The Project Officer will be responsible for delivery of the Young Farmers Clubs element of the Grassroots Challenge Programme across Co Antrim, Co Londonderry and North Down. The Grassroots Challenge is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and is a part of the UK wide Our Bright Future programme. Partner organisations include Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Keep NI Beautiful, Lantra (Sector Skills Body for the Land Based Sector) and Northern Ireland Environment Link.
The primary focus of the posts is to be out and about delivering the project directly with members of the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster (11 – 25 year olds). This will involve delivering “Club Night Challenge” taster sessions, assisting with the development and delivery of biodiversity/ “Wild Ideas” projects at ground level; supporting clubs in preparing for Eco Club Awards and organising delivery of accredited and non accredited training opportunities (including the one day LANTRA Conservation on the Farm course).
