Project Coordinator Creating Resilient Local Economies, Ref: CRLEPO/10/19 Duration: 2-year fixed term contract; 28 hours per week Salary: £32,774 per annum (pro rata), actual £26,219, NJC Point 30 Based in Belfast but working across Northern Ireland

Development Trusts NI (DTNI) is the regional network of community development and regeneration trusts in Northern Ireland. DTNI is the third sector partner to the Department for Communities assisting with the implementation of the Community Asset Transfer policy (CAT).

We are seeking to recruit a Creating Resilient Local Economies Project Co-ordinator for a two-year pilot project. The successful candidate will research what contributes to good local economic development practice in communities and will work with two local government authorities. The project will consider the role of asset-based community development as well as new thinking in procurement practice including procuring for social value.

The core premise of this project is that the relationship between those who design policy and programmes, commission and procure services and the intended beneficiaries of those services requires change i.e.communities need to become more closely involved in design and delivery of service.  The project will draw from DTNI’s Charter for Change Time to Build an Inclusive Local Economy and will explore opportunities for new practice through reflection on DTNI’s four pillars for action:

  • advancing local community power;
  • building local community wealth;
  • commissioning and procuring for social value;
  • developing finance to support local economies.

The Creating Resilient Local Economies Development Officer will engage with stakeholders across the voluntary community & social enterprise (VCSE) sector and public sector to promote and raise awareness of the pilot project and its aims and objectives and to identify opportunities for collaborative working on local social and economic development initiatives.
