Location:  Belfast (hybrid between home and Belfast office)

Hours: 35 per week

Salary: £26,488 based on 35 hours per week

Contract Type: Fixed term to end March 2025

Our Refugee Services in Belfast work closely with sector partners to offer assistance and meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees in Northern Ireland. The service provides practical and emotional help to vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in the region, some of whom are experiencing destitution. 

 

 

What does the role of Project Coordinator involve?

 

You will be part of the team working to develop the service. You will ensure that our work remains person centred and responsive to the identified needs of our service users. Through the development and maintenance of strong partnerships and relationships, you'll also promote the service in the area.

You will be responsible for developing, coordinating and delivering casework. You will offer help with social, wellbeing and integration activities for newly arrived asylum seekers in Northern Ireland.

This is an extremely rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills with the ability to work thoughtfully and remain calm under pressure.

 

What do you need to be a successful Project Coordinator?

  • You've got experience of working with vulnerable people with complex needs.
  • You have experience of cross-agency partnerships and collaborative working.
  • You have knowledge of the rights and entitlements of, and an understanding of issues relating to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
  • You have knowledge of safe working practices when working with people with insecure immigration status.
  • You can demonstrate the ability to work within a team in a high-pressure environment including managing and developing volunteers.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You can communicate effectively with people whose first language is not English, along with having the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences.
  • An ability to speak a language widely spoken by the refugee / asylum seeking community would be advantageous.
