We currently have a vacancy for a Practice Advisor, NI to be based in our Omagh or L'Derry Office.

The Practice Advisor’s primary role is to support the implementation of agreed and specific strategies to support the needs of people with complex and specialist needs. There will be a specific focus on the implementation of strategies that support people with Autism and people who have behaviours that may challenge.

They will support the implementation of positive behavioural support and the development of behavioural support plans. They will also support the organisational development of the skills required to understand the function of behaviour through observation, interview and review of relevant data.

The Practice Advisor will have subject matter expertise in supporting people with complex and specialist needs, particularly people who have been described as having behaviours that may challenge. The role will be supported by the National Quality Team.

Practice Development

 The Practice Advisor will support the development and implementation of ways of working that will support teams to understand and develop their skills in working with people with complex and specialist needs.

They will work directly with people we are supporting and their teams to undertake observations, facilitate team conversations and review data to develop a good understanding of the needs of the people they are being commissioned to work with. 

Supporting the identification of poor practice and working with the Operational and Quality team to put in place actions to address this. Where the Practice Advisor identifies good practice, they will support teams and managers to find ways of replicating this across their team.

 Specialist Assessment Implementation

 The Practice Advisor will support the implementation of the Personal Support assessment and planning framework and will use and review specialist assessment tools that are developed/are developing to inform and guide support planning to meet individual need.

They will have a lead responsibility in supporting the implementation of the PBS development framework in identified services and will support the implementation of the delivery of organisationally agreed new tools and the application of these within service settings.

 Service Support and Development

 The Practice Advisor will provide dedicated support to services to achieve improved performance against planned and agreed targets. They will recognise the important of establishing and maintaining professional credibility by working directly with teams and first and second line managers so that practice issues are identified, understood and acted upon to secure effective practice.

They will support teams to develop their working practices to facilitate effective service delivery and to meet the individual needs and wants of the people we support.

Working alongside learning and development colleagues to co-deliver agreed training sessions, they will continue to develop competency in the workplace using coaching, briefings and facilitation of workshops.

The hours are flexible, but you must be willing to meet the service needs as and when required which may include evenings and weekends
