RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) is the UK’s leading sight loss charity. Working with us you can make a real difference to people’s lives.

Come and join our team in Belfast as a PR and Communications Officer. Help us to tell our story so we can deliver our vision of a world where there are no barriers to people with sight loss.

Working within our PR and Communication team, you’ll contribute towards the planning and delivery of proactive PR activity and identify, and respond quickly, to short term opportunities. You’ll schedule, draft and deliver our social media posts, helping to monitor and evaluate activity across these channels. You’ll analyse and evaluate RNIB media coverage, and research, write and edit press releases and other written materials such as blog posts, features and statements.

With experience of working within a team and contributing towards the day-to-day running of a team, you’ll have the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders such as colleagues and customers. You’ll have experience of working with media on both a reactive and proactive basis, and the ability to remain calm and in control when under pressure ensuring deadlines are met.  You’ll be able to understand complex information quickly and to present and explain it to others.

In exchange we offer a competitive salary, a stimulating and supportive working environment and a benefits package including:

  • 26 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), which increase with service.
  • Excellent pension schemes

We’re the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we’re here for everyone affected by sight loss. Working for us means working for one of the UK’s biggest charities, supporting almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK.[jf2]

RNIB is committed to being led by our customers (blind and partially sighted people), and one of the ways we do this is through active involvement and engagement in many of our work activities, including the recruitment of new members of staff.

Please be aware that blind and partially sighted volunteers may be involved in the recruitment and selection process for this vacancy; including reviewing job applications and CV’s, shortlisting and interviews and selection tests.

RNIB is committed to being an Equal Opportunities organisation and we welcome applications from people with sight loss.
