Lecturer in Practical Theology
Belfast School of Theology

This role will attract applicants who are passionate about equipping students for mission and ministry in the ever changing culture of the world in which we live. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about teaching Practical Theology in an environment where rigorous academic study is intended to foster growth in Christian commitment, character and service. They should be committed to providing a quality learning experience for students across all the Colleges’ programmes (Evening Classes to Postgraduate students) and to their own continual professional development both in their specialist subject area and in their skills as a lecturer and researcher. The applicant should have a vision for developing the teaching of Practical Theology in the College, a willingness to develop and oversee a specific area of College life beyond their subject specialism and the desire to engage with students within the broader College context.

You will be able to work effectively under pressure and in a context which involves managing multiple demands and delivering high quality work on time and to set targets. You will enjoy developing courses and structures that provide effective learning for students and be committed to continual enhancement and improvement. You will be passionate about seeing students develop and committed to providing both the support and challenges necessary for their growth. You will be enthusiastic about working in an inter-denominational College where there is a commitment to the Christian faith and will welcome the opportunity to contribute to the devotional life of the College community.
Special Circumstances
Full time hours. Flexibility will be required to meet the varying needs of teaching courses which may involve some evening and weekend work.
Full-time lecturers at the College are expected to teach in the Evening Class Programme.
A willingness to commit to working within the Christian ethos of the College. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian.
