Are you an enthusiastic and well-organised project manager who could lead key elements of an influential coastal project?  Do you enjoy working with communities and multiple leading organisations across the island of Ireland? Can you work with communities to not only co-develop action plans for the future of our coasts but also work with them to ensure they are more than paper plans?  

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage the National Trust objectives within the Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Planning (CMAP) Project

CMAP is a €9.6M EU PEACEPLUS-funded, cross-border project, led by Ulster University with multiple partners including National Trust that will help create sustainable adaptation to the threats posed by climate change and provide decision-makers and stakeholders at the coast with information on the nature of coastal change. 

You'll be playing a critical role, enabling us to deliver our coastal vision and working with coastal communities to help them develop theirs and feed into coastal management for the future.

This project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

What you'll be doing

As the CMAP Project Manager, you will lead on the co-development of coastal adaptation plans and toolkits working with local communities and other stakeholders. 

You'll be a point of contact to ensure that our properties are aware and can support where needed other partners working to collect coastal data on our sites.

You’ll be managing project delivery and expenditure, risk and compliance as well as project reporting in line with internal processes and SEUPB funder requirements. 

You’ll use your strong communication and advocacy skills to build relationships with the coastal communities, stakeholders, partners and wider National Trust teams within the Island of Ireland facilitate collaboration.

You will line manage a new Project Officer who will work alongside you and be responsible for the Blue Carbon (Saltmarsh) elements of the project.  

As you will be working with communities it is helpful if you can be flexible with your time as they may wish to meet in the evening or on weekends. 

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

• Good knowledge and understanding of Coastal management Issues – particularly in relation to climate adaptation and/or coastal processes/nature-based solutions. 

• Experience working with communities and/or stakeholders to co-develop and implement plans.

• Ability to research and interpret internal and external evidence and be able to translate it to non-specialists supporting decision- making.

• Solid project management skills, able to make decisions and drive projects forward to budgets and timescales. 

• Great team leadership, and team working skills and problem-solving.

• Ability to build strong partner relationships and advocate for the project, community and team. 

• Ability to manage budgets and some experience of procurement, contractor management, and compliance.
