The post-holder is responsible for the effective provision of an advice and advocacy service to victims of rape / sexual violence and sexual abuse.

Title                           : Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) 

Salary                        : £25,451.13 per annum  

Hours                         : 35 hours per week  

Location                   : 2nd Floor Albany House, 73-75 Gt Victoria St Belfast BT2 7AF

Duration                : Fixed Term Contract 12 months

Secondment          : Secondment Opportunities are Welcome

 

Qualifications: 

  •  Achieved “A” level standard or equivalent with a minimum 2 years’ experience of delivering services to victims of rape / sexual violence and sexual abuse

     OR 

  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience of delivering services to victims of rape / sexual violence and sexual abuse

    Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Demonstrable experience in the completion of needs assessments and support planning

  • Demonstrable experience of advocating on behalf of victims to third party organisations, preferably in sexual violence cases.

  • Knowledge of the impact of rape / sexual violence and sexual abuse on victims and the support services available to them

  • Evidence of building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external partners

  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks

  • Understanding of child protection, safeguarding issues and legal responsibilities and safety planning

  • Experience of working with organisational information systems and applications

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills including report writing

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages

     Desirable: 

  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Criminal Justice sector would be advantageous

  • Experience of operation in Volunteering organisation would be advantageous

  • Experience of representing victims’ views to policy makers or the general public

    Additional requirements:

  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post
