You will assist us to attract, train and support volunteers to deliver the Hearing Aid User Support Service, which will be volunteer led.Friendly, approachable and with excellent organisational skills, you’ll be able to bring a knowledge of best practice

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Initiate and promote the Hearing Aid User Support Service in order to reach and engage with people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

The target group for this Hearing Aid User Support service is adults ordinarily resident in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area who have been issued with an NHS hearing aid(s) but who are struggling with the usage or management of the hearing aid(s); and, possibly have stopped using their hearing aid(s) altogether.

The HALO will recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver our ‘Hearing Aid User Support Service’ throughout the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust in conjunction with the Sensory Support Teams, Audiology, Action on Hearing Loss Northern Ireland’s Health & Social Care Manager and other Hearing Aid Support Service staff.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure delivery of the hearing aid user support service activities through use of volunteers in both community and hospital settings
  • Work with the Health & Social Care Manager to plan activities, meet project objectives and monitor and evaluate the “Hearing Aid User Support Service”
  • Provide regular progress reports to Managers on targets and service expenditure in line with funding requirements to enable service review
  • Raise awareness of the service by marketing it through all appropriate means including networking and local statutory and voluntary agencies
  • To manage the ‘Hearing Aid User Support Service’ volunteers ensuring they are recruited, developed, trained, supported and motivated to provide the highest quality of service in line with our Investing in Volunteers accreditation
  • Work in partnership with the Health & Social Care Trust to develop hearing aid user support services within the Trust
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team across the statutory and voluntary sectors
  • Attend any training relevant to the role
  • Carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all of Action on Hearing Loss’s policies, but especially Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety
