MS Society NI

Volunteering
We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for the Cirencester and South Cotswold Group. As a Group Coordinator you will be acting as an ambassador for the group, developing annual plans, leading the group’s activities and more.

Our local groups provide services and support to make a difference for local people affected by MS. Our Group Coordinators use their local knowledge and leadership skills to organise and oversee a local group.

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for the Cirencester and South Cotswold Group. As a Group Coordinator you will be acting as an ambassador for the group, developing annual plans, leading the group’s activities and recruiting and supporting group volunteers.

We are a small and friendly group of people affected by MS, who meet regularly at social get-togethers. Some of our volunteers are trained to offer support and information about local services, and we provide grants to help pay for items that will have a significant positive impact on the lives of those affected by M S. We also organise trips out and distribute a regular newsletter. We would like to recruit a Group Coordinator to help lead the group, recruit and induct new volunteers and help to develop services for people affected by MS in the local area.

Our roles are flexible and we aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary but we estimate a couple of hours per week. We are hoping to recruit a number of volunteers for this group and once we have a small team, it would be useful to hold monthly or bi-monthly meetings to plan and discuss together. You may want to attend some of the informal social events organised to speak to the local community to ascertain the needs or concerns. There is also an opportunity to meet with the Coordinators of the two other Gloucestershire groups providing information, social and other opportunities to people affected by MS elsewhere in the county. In addition there will be other supporting activities and training to attend.

You'll have access to a full group handbook, opportunities to meet with other Group Coordinators and support from a local member of staff. You'll also have a welcome and induction checklist which lists what resources are available to support you in your role

We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS. This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to coordinate and support a team of volunteers.
