As a skilled and resourceful genealogist or researcher, you will deliver the necessary research required for information recovery and family tracing for adults linked to the Mother and Baby Home, Magdalene Laundries & Workhouses in Northern Ireland. You will need to be able to access public records offices and archives in NI regularly as part of your role.
Adopt NI is an independent registered charity established in 1989. Our main priority is to support any adult impacted by the lifelong journey of adoption or separation from their family of origin (birth mothers, adult adoptees, adopters, and siblings).
Some Key elements of the Role:
- Regular meetings with consultant DNA expert to liaise on interpretation of results for individuals.
- Arrange further training for clients to manage their own DNA after exiting the project.
- Gather as much information as possible from public records and tracing tools available through Adopt NI to enable the Advocacy & Tracing caseworker to undertake their intermediary work.
- Build and maintain a network of other professionals in the field in UK and ROI in respect of tracing outside of NI.
- Accurately and clearly record and report the results of any research done.
- Be familiar with and follow strict GDPR protocols in relation to the recording and reporting of any research.
