The Ballymote Family Project provides Sure Start and Family Support services. We provide a range of services which include universal services, early intervention and targeted interventions. This includes improving outcomes for children who are neglected or abused, whose parents are separating, having difficulties in school, returning to live at home, young people who have a caring role, families whose tenancy is at risk and families at risk of breakdown.

Family Support is a service which offers families advice and support as well as offering parents the opportunity to develop their skills to carry out the daily tasks in bringing up a family.

 

How will you make a difference?

By assessing the needs of the children and their parents

By providing appropriate support on a 1:1 basis to children and/or their parents

By providing practical quality care, support interventions and a range of activities and experiences to children and families in line with agreed plans.

By contacting and liaising with other agencies to obtain more information and on-going support for the children and families as necessary

By being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and alert appropriate line managers about concerns in line with our safeguarding policies and procedures

 

What will you need?

  • Experience of working with and the ability to engage with children and/or their parents
  • Experience of providing 1:1 support
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues by children
  • Good knowledge of child development
  • A good understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • The ability to manage your own caseload
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills
  • A Psychology, Child Development or Early Years qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Access to a car with business insurance. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
