Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.
  • Enniskillen, County Fermanagh and Omagh, County Tyrone

    Circa £20,300 per annum

Full-Time (working 37 hours a week) on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021

Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.

    The role

Action for Children's Early Intervention Family Support Hub works across Omagh and Fermanagh supporting children and young people aged 0-18 and their families. The Family Support Hubs in Omagh and Fermanagh are funded by the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

The Family Support Hub is a multi-agency network of organisations that either provide early intervention services or work with families who need early intervention services. The network accepts referrals for families who need early intervention family support and uses their knowledge of local service providers and the Family Support Database (the NI wide database) at www.familysupportni.gov.uk to signpost families with specific needs to appropriate services.

Based between our offices in Omagh and Enniskillen, you'll be working alongside the Family Support Hub Co-ordinators for the Omagh and Fermanagh area to improve access to early intervention family support services by matching the needs of referred families to family support providers. Generally this will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm but there may need to be some flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

You will make a difference by:

     - Providing a high quality, customer focused service to children and families.

     - Completing initial assessments and follow ups with the families either in their own home or at our services.

     - Researching the services available to the families in their area depending on their need and, if required, helping them access these.

     - Developing effective working relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.

     - Establishing relationships and links within the community to assist children and their families.

     - Attending meetings and forums regularly to promote the Family Support Hubs and early intervention services available.

    You will need:

     - NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in early years and childcare, social care or other related background.

     - Experience of working directly with families in their own home.

     - Excellent communication skills, including IT.

     - Ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative to problem solve.

     - Access to a car with business insurance. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.

     - The ability to work flexibly including occasional evening and weekend work, by prior arrangement.

     - Registered with NISCC or be willing to register.
