Home-Start Omagh District is hiring 2 passionate Family Group Workers (15 hrs/week, term-time) for a 4-year project funded by the National Lottery’s People & Communities Fund. Salary: £12.85/hr (Scale 3, SCP 5 £24,790 per annum, pro rata).

 

Purposes of the job

  • To work in partnership with parents/carers, to enable them to identify their needs and achieve better outcomes for their children.
  • To support families who have at least one child, under 5, through the delivery, organisation and facilitation of family group and family training and information sessions.

Main Responsibilities

  • To set up the playroom before the group commences and clean, tidy and put away equipment when the group finishes.
  • To establish a secure stimulating varied programme of play (including stories, art   and craft etc) for the children within the Family Group, always ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • To involve parents in activities with their children and encourage them to continue this involvement at home.
  • To be responsive to parents and children, building positive relationships with them and where possible to assist parents in responding to children’s behavioural problems, being sensitive to the underlying reasons for such behaviour.
  • To support families with issues they are experiencing.

Family Group Schedule (subject to change) - successful applicants must be available to work on these days:

  • Dromore/Trillick: Sessions scheduled for Monday
  • Beragh/Sixmilecross: Sessions scheduled for Wednesday
  • Coolnagard Area: Sessions scheduled for Friday
