Employment Officer

Mencap provides an extensive range of high quality services and support to people with learning disabilities and their families across Northern Ireland.

We have an exciting opportunity for Employment Officer’s to join Belfast and Bangor team.

We will also establish a waiting list for any Employment Officer posts that may become available in these localities within the next six months.

Mencap are looking for someone who is trustworthy and caring, inclusive and enthusiastic about putting people with a learning disability at the heart of everything they do; who are positive and are not afraid to challenge wrong ways of thinking about learning disability.

As an Employment Officer, you will work as part of a team to support people with a learning disability to access a range of employment and training opportunities, to develop their skills and confidence and to progress towards their employment goals and aspirations.

You will have the ability to generate a range of high quality paid employment opportunities through engagement with employers and effective promotion of Mencap services.

This role requires an enthusiastic, driven and self- motivated individual. You will have excellent time management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a team. You will be able to demonstrate effective negotiation and mediation skills.

This role requires the ability to occasionally work outside normal office hours and to travel to other Mencap locations when required.
