LOCATION: Remote – Anywhere
TEAM: Communications Team
PROJECT: Across all projects
DURATION: Minimum 1 year
WORKLOAD: 2-5 hours/week (on average) with a 3-month probationary period and a 1 year contract

 

Witness Change is a not for profit organisation dedicated to improving life for excluded groups by amplifying their stories. Our vision is to create inclusive societies with equal rights for all.

Through our storytelling we aim to reduce stigma, increase agency, and inspire action.

Our most recent projects have focused on vulnerable LGBTQI+ communities and people living with mental health issues in challenging circumstances.

We are seeking an effective CONTENT CREATOR ready to be a central contributor of this dynamic, young organisation. Through your writing skills, you will create content to build an enduring online brand presence for Witness Change on Social Media and other online platforms.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Social Media Content Creator and Assistant: create social media posts
  • Website and other platforms content creator/editor: collect current website text into editable document and suggest edits (when needed), create new content for the site and external platforms
  • Mission recognition: identify opportunities to increase brand presence

 

THE TEAM CONSISTS OF:

  • Communication Lead
  • Operations Manager
  • 1-2 Social Media and Communications Volunteers within other departments of Witness Change
  • A primary and secondary volunteer

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

  • Maintain regular communication and the overall relationship with the Communication Lead and Operations Manager
  • Create posts and content on a regular cycle with ample time for review, edit, and approval
  • Identify external news or topical stories to share
  • Monitor activity and respond to comments
  • Alert senior leadership and managers of quality and comments issues
  • Communicate new marketing and communication opportunities
  • Ensure engagement and monitor reach in social media
  • Create new content for or edit existing content found on the website and other platforms the project will be shared on
  • Participate in team meetings

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong copywriting skills including excellent spelling and grammar, as well as the ability to tell compelling stories to capture target audiences
  • Must provide 3-5 writing samples or communication/marketing portfolio
  • Ability to be independent and respond promptly to direction
  • Must have internet access
  • Past experience with social media content development
  • Interested in amplifying the voices of excluded groups
