JOB TITLE: Community Engagement Officer & Creative Producer (PRONI)

BASED AT: Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Titanic Quarter, Belfast

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm (including one hour for lunch each day). The post-holder may be required to work outside the normal office and flexi-time hours. The post is for 37.5 hours per week.

SALARY: £25,000

Making the Future will see a consortium of leading cultural organisations – Nerve Centre, NMNI, PRONI and Linen Hall Library – deliver an exciting £1.5million cross-community programme of cultural engagement, creativity and skills development.

5,000+ participants will interrogate and re-imagine consortium collections through the creative arts and digital technologies. Results will be viewed by 100,000+ people who will participate in exhibitions, events and workshops.

The project will bring participants together in consortium spaces, community centres, museums, venues, libraries and community cinemas across Northern Ireland and in border counties of the Republic of Ireland.

The project will deliver exhibitions, events, learning resources and digital content exploring social and cultural themes across nine interlinked strands:

  • Culture Lab: Making the Future
  • Troubles Art
  • Partition
  • Creative Centenaries
  • Women in the Archives
  • 100 Shared Stories
  • Conflict to Peace
  • Cultural Fusion
  • Making the Future Oral Archive

 

The Community Engagement Officer & Creative Producer (PRONI) will be responsible for delivering community engagement activities in the following project strands, as well as contributing to the wider programme as required:

  • Women in the Archives

A major cross-community engagement and exhibition programme, with drama elements, bringing forward female voices from the archives and inspiring future generations. Partners will deliver a joint exhibition at the Linen Hall Library and PRONI, co-produced by participants, accompanied by an Events & Learning programme. The exhibition will travel to libraries in border counties north and south, accompanied by a cross-community engagement programme. A new learning resource will aid community engagement. In partnership Libraries NI.

  • 100 Shared Stories

A cross-community digital creativity programme, involving victims and survivors, who will create 100 new, digital stories inspired by the collections and archives of consortium partners. The digital stories will reflect on the last 100 years of Irish history and will use film, animation, imagery and audio. Participants will also take part in a digital marketing programme to learn how to share the stories online to a wide audience.

  • Making the Future Oral Archive

A cross-community oral archive telling the stories of participants in Making the Future, reflecting on the past and articulating future hopes for themselves and society. The archive will be held by PRONI and be made accessible to the public.
