This is a new role in which the post-holder will be required to manage the day-to-day operation of the Resource Centre, supported by a small team of volunteers, as well as identifying and leading the development of new initiatives to meet local needs.

SALARY:                                               Band 4 – up to £11,102 p.a. (£23,131 FTE p.a.)

 

HOURS:                                                18 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)

 

PLACE OF WORK:                             Resource Centre, Irish Street, Dungannon

 

This is a fixed-term role for an initial period of 12 months at which time requirements will be reviewed.

The Resource Centre in Dungannon supports our Day Care facilities at South Tyrone Hospital, home care services in the area and our inpatient unit in Newry.  The Centre supports local people who are living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses - such as multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease, and their carers; and those who have been bereaved.

The activities available in the Resource Centre include patient and relative information and advice, carer support, bereavement support, complementary therapies and emotional and psychological support.  The Centre receives referrals from GPs, the Hospice’s inpatient unit, Specialist Palliative Care Nurses, Macmillan and District Nurses, Social Workers, Cancer Centres as well as self-referrals.

The successful candidate will have recent relevant experience of at least 2 years in a role covering some of the following areas:  supervising a small team, working with variety of individuals with varying needs, co-ordination of activities, managing appointments.  You will also be competent in the use of Microsoft Office – particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.

You will need to demonstrate strong organisational and time-management skills, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships, promote the Resource Centre services.  You must be proactive and have the ability to work without close supervision.

This post will play a pivotal role in the future strategic development of the Resource Centre, overseeing both existing programmes and the future growth and development of new initiatives in response to sectoral needs in the Dungannon area.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure through Access NI before any appointment is confirmed.
