The Clinical Coordinator is an integral leadership role responsible for the coordination, and delivery of Nexus’ trauma-informed therapeutic services. Overseeing the operational and clinical functions of counselling delivery, the postholder will ensure that services provided to individuals affected by sexual trauma are of the highest professional and ethical standard. Working in close collaboration with the Head of Therapeutic Services and the Therapeutic Support Services Team, the Clinical Coordinator will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive quality assurance, and ensure effective clinical governance across the service
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Clinical Leadership
• Provide operational leadership to the counselling team, ensuring high-quality therapeutic provision that reflects best practice in trauma-informed care.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of Nexus’ clinical strategy, aligning service delivery with organisational goals and sectoral standards.
• Act as a key clinical advisor within the organisation, supporting decision making at senior levels and contributing to a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Service Delivery Oversight
• Oversee the management of all counselling and therapeutic referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate triage, allocation, and follow-up in accordance with contractual obligations and clinical need.
• Lead the development and implementation of robust systems and processes to support the effective allocation and management of clients, ensuring geographical and therapeutic suitability.
• Maintain oversight of waiting lists, demand trends, and capacity planning to optimise service accessibility and responsiveness
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
• Ensure high-quality, client-centred engagement at all stages of the therapeutic journey, from referral to closure.
• Lead on the communication and engagement with clients, families, and referrers, ensuring all interactions reflect trauma-informed principles and uphold the dignity and autonomy of those accessing services.
• Promote collaborative and transparent relationships with external stakeholders, supporting Nexus’ reputation as a leader in trauma support services.
Collaboration and Integration
• Work in close partnership with the Therapeutic Support Services Team and Service Support Officer to ensure integrated, seamless service delivery across clinical and operational domains.
• Contribute to cross-functional working and the effective coordination of systems, procedures, and administrative processes related to service delivery.
• Provide clinical input and oversight to service developments, pilots, and new
programmes.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
• Ensure all client data, referral details, and clinical information are recorded in compliance with GDPR and organisational policies.
• Lead on the oversight and analysis of service evaluations (initial, mid-point, and endpoint) to ensure evidence-based reporting and continual service enhancement.
• Use live data to produce high-quality reports for funders, senior leadership, and governance bodies, demonstrating impact and outcomes in line with agreed targets.
• Drive the use of data and client feedback in informing service improvements
and shaping strategic direction
Essential Criteria
• 3rd level qualification or equivalent in the areas of Counselling or related field
• Experience of working with Sexual Trauma
• Supervision and leadership of a team
• Managing a project including returns and monitoring
• Managing financial and other resources within budgetary expectations
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Computer literacy (proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Hold a full current driving license valid for use in the UK and Ireland and have
access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of a
suitable applicant who has a disability which prohibits them from driving but
who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Desirable Criteria
• Working in the voluntary sector
• Working directly with funding officers
• Working directly with vulnerable adults and/or survivors of sexual violence in a supporting role
• Recent training (accredited or unaccredited) in fields related to the post
General responsibilities
• Work within Nexus policies, procedures, and standards
• To work across other Nexus projects
• To maintain an awareness of own and other’s health and safety and comply
with Nexus Health and Safety procedures
• To comply with Nexus Diversity and Equality policies and practices
• To comply with all relevant Nexus child and vulnerable adult safeguarding policies
• To maintain and develop competence in the use of IT systems
• This role offers flexible working hours based on service needs and will require
availability to work at least one evening per week
Further duties
• Maintain professional practice standards in line with Nexus principles and core standards
• Undertake responsibilities in directly supporting the work of others in delivering all the services of the team
• Keep professional records of all programmes of work with supportive notes
• Provide a series of staged assessment reports and a final post evaluation report
• Keep clear records of activities and expenses
• Other appropriate duties as required by Line Manager
• Contribute to the development of best practice and service development, taking a lead role as required

- Attendance at a formal induction and ongoing training will be required.
