Child Support Worker
Location: Family Support Service – North Down and Ards Area – Remote
Salary: £18,618.60 per annum (£11.935 per hour)
Contract: Temporary for 6 months from start date (may be extended subject to further funding)
Work hours: 30 hours per week
Belfast Central Mission (BCM) is an award-winning leading charity with social care projects and social enterprises across Northern Ireland. With over 300 staff and volunteers delivering services across Northern Ireland to support people at their point of need.
BCM Parents' Support programme aims to help parents and their children (0-5yrs) by offering both emotional and practical support. This is offered via home based support, formal group work and informal peer support groups to parents.
The programme offers advice and support on all issues relating to parenting, for instance, healthy eating, personal care when pregnant, positive parenting techniques, stimulating play and challenging behaviour, child or parental disability and support networks.
Your new role
You will work independently with a caseload of families with children aged 0 – 5, providing a holistic supportive service. You will do this by regularly meeting your families face to face either at their own home or a neutral venue to assess the individual needs of these families and formulate a plan of support, working towards achieving shared goals. You will work directly with the families providing practical support to promote the best outcomes for the children and families, with a focus on the children meeting their key milestones.

What we need from you
- GCSE English or equivalent
- Experience of working with families and children aged 0-5
- Knowledge of child protection.
- A full driving license and access to a car with Business insurance as you may have to transport Service Users.
