Could you support the lives of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in the Belfast area?

We're looking for a Casework Co-ordinator to join our Refugee Support team in Belfast which provides support services for refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in the Belfast area. In this role, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations.

Reporting to the Refugee Support Service Manager, you will work with a team of volunteers to provide face-to-face and telephone advice and support. You will also work very closely with fellow casework and project coordinators, as part of a diverse and dynamic operational team.

Your role will sit within the Casework Team at Belfast Refugee Support (RS) service. The team supports asylum seekers and refugees at all stages of the asylum process; providing advice and advocacy on welfare support. Our role is to enable people to navigate the asylum process and access their welfare rights and entitlements.
Caseworkers provide advice across a range of complex public law areas including homelessness, welfare benefits, health and community care as well as specialist advice on asylum support. The casework service offers several specialist projects including support for women who have experienced gender based violence (GBV); support for survivors of trafficking and family reunion travel assistance. 

We also provide practical destitution support in the form of emergency cash hardship payments, hygiene packs and other practical support.

You delight in the knowledge that our team comes from many different backgrounds, and the common link we all share is our love working with people and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of society
You have an understanding of, and can advocate on behalf of clients regarding issues relating to refugees and vulnerable migrants (including rights and entitlements)
You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations
You're a team player who can who's comfortable within what can sometimes be a busy and demanding environment
