To provide care and support for residents within the Christian ethos and aims of the Council for Social Witness.
Sunnyside House is one of 6 homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services). The Home accommodates 45 residents who have a variety of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs and varying levels of dependency. The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
Job Title: Care Assistant (Night Duty)
Location: Sunnyside House, 25 Riverwood Vale, Donaghadee Road, Bangor, BT20 4QE
Salary Scale: £12.40 per hour (no NVQ)
£12.46 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care
£12.50 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care
Hours: 37 hours (Day and Night posts) (Part time hours may be considered)
Responsible to: Service Manager
CRITERIA
QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
- Willing to undertake appropriate training as required;
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a working environment;
- Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post;
- Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential
- Be willing to work flexibly to fulfil the requirements of the Home, including working additional hours if required;
- Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland;
- Registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council within 6 months of appointment is a requirement of this position.
