The successful applicant will be supporting Mrs Diane Dodds MLA in her Banbridge constituency office, by leading on and dealing with enquiries from members of the public.

The successful applicant will be supporting Mrs Diane Dodds MLA in her Banbridge constituency office, by leading on and dealing with enquires from members of the public.

The successful candidate will help deliver a first-class constituency service in Upper Bann, managing and leading on a range of constituency casework.

LOCATION: Banbridge

WORKING PATTERN: 32.5 hours per week

SALARY: Pro-rata

  • Providing information/advice to constituents on a range of issues including, housing, welfare, health and education
  • Being the first point of contact for members of the public within the office
  • Managing and monitoring incoming calls, emails and enquiries to progress a portfolio of casework appropriately
  • Drafting letters/correspondence
  • Updating/maintaining IT databases
  • Ensuring enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially
  • Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
  • Attending meetings/conferences and training sessions as required
  • Other duties as required in support of the MLA carrying out their Assembly duties

Essential Criteria

  • Third level degree OR 2 years minimum relevant experience
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook/Emails etc
  • Proven ability to work from own initiative and see tasks through to conclusion

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in advising and problem solving directly with the public
  • Experience of dealing with Government Agencies
  • Experience within a political environment would be advantageous
  • Experience of the housing and welfare system in Northern Ireland
  • Experience in managing casework
  • Experience of working in the advice sector
