We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual keen to set up and manage a project which provides targeted support, advice and guidance to vulnerable adults at risk, families and carers for those with a learning disability, autism and ASD.

Funded by the Nationwide Foundation, CAN Thrive will  provide a unique age-appropriate, person-centered service which helps individuals to thrive by providing advocacy and advice services focussing on money management, lifeskills, keeping safe, independent travel and maintaining key relationships in the area where they live. Critical to this will be a benefits advice service which will provide support in navigating health and social services, signposting and future planning for those with elderly carers or advancing in years.

This project will provide targeted support to those at risk of crises due to changes to welfare/benefits (UC/PIP), and provide advocacy, advice and life skills training to increase the independence of those living either in family homes or residential homes which will enable individuals to strive towards their own tenancy and home.

We have a significant population of individuals living in supported living who also struggle with being a good neighbour, managing money and consequently put themselves at risk of eviction and debt. This project will support them to maintain their tenancy and will provide the training that they need to do so in a non threatening and accessible manner. We will provide an advice worker/advocate who will work as a navigator for beneficiaries and support them to identify their own goals and aspirations and then help them navigate the system to ensure that they are receiving the appropriate benefits and community service supports. The project will aim to build community connections for people and thus offer collective impact for all participants. This multi stranded approach offers the best chance of providing a truly person centred approach and will ensure that the participant retains appropriate levels of control at all times to maximise levels of participation and outcomes.
