The Strabane Surestart service is funded by the Department of Education  to support families with young children under 4 years to enable them to thrive, achieve, develop and build resilience. Our primary focus is working with antenatal parents and families with children under 4 years. Surestart works in partnership with a range of establishments  promoting early intervention and education. Barnardo's is the lead agency and ensure that robust systems of monitoring impact, health and safety and all other aspects of quality assurance are in place and met.

The post holder will assist  Early Year's staff to ensure that services provide language rich environments, provide additional support to children with speech and language difficulties and their parent/carers, through assessment, observations and monitoring.  The role will include facilitation of groups aimed at speech, language and communication development, including art as a medium for language development. This will involve carrying out Stay and Plays, planning activities such as messy play sessions and facilitating parenting programmes where appropriate.

Location: Strabane Sure Start, Unit 21, Orchard Rd Industrial Estate, Strabane, Co. Tyrone, BT82 9FR

Hours: 20 hours per week, worked over 4 days, Monday - Thursday

Salary: Circa £17,316, per annum to be paid pro rata
