This specialist level course follows from the Debts in the Courts skilled level course (which is a pre-requisite). This discussion based and practical day will develop your core tactical knowledge and skills to help clients.
Advocacy is something we do every day as advisers without thinking much about the skills we need to advocate effectively. This course will provide participants with an opportunity to practice and improve those skills. Additionally this course will look closely at the expectations of clients and of ourselves in the role of advocates.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand best practice case work in advocating for clients
- Know how to apply advocacy skills within the protocols of the court system
- Raise confidence by identifying obstacles and anxieties and exploring ways to overcome these
- Put theory into practice in a safe environment.
