Have you often thought you would like to go to university, but don't have the qualifications? Perhaps you had negative experiences of school and lack confidence in your ability to learn? This online course, running on Thurs evenings from 7-9pm will help you to overcome the barriers to your learning and enable you to develop skills needed for learning at university.

The Unblocking Potential programme helps you to examine blocks that have prevented you from returning to education. We use interactive materials to help develop your skills and confidence in your ability to learn. We also help you to develop skills needed for higher level study, e.g. written communication, working in teams, speaking out in front of others, finding and using resources, critical reflection. The course will also enable you to realistically manage your time, so that you can juggle study, work and/or home life. The course will be fully online, so you will need access to the internet. Course tutors will support you throughout the learning process. The University also has an excellent Student Support system, which includes dedicated 24/7 IT support, help for those with specific learning difficulties and supporting students mental health and well-being.

If you are currently working/volunteering to support marginalised or disadvantaged sections of the community, this course also provides access to the part-time degree in Community Development (no other qualifications required).
