This episode of the Inspirational Speaker Series hears from Dr John Bartlett, Institute of Technology Sligo. His talk will be centred on the work of IT Sligo’s pioneering Sustainable Energy Communities, a project which focused on addressing fuel poverty while also developing sustainable energy systems that transition us away from fossil fuel dependence.

Dr. John Bartlett is Head of Research at IT Sligo and is responsible for developing a research culture based on scholarship, multi-disciplinarity, and collaboration, including the development of policy, strategy, administrative systems, quality assurance, budgets, capital infrastructure, and project initiatives with internal and external stakeholders/agencies. He was the founding Director of the Centre for Sustainability and the Contract Research Unit at IT Sligo, and he has worked with a number of agencies to contribute to regional and national policy development in Ireland in the areas of sustainability, public services, and health innovation.
