In increasing areas of the social security system rights of appeal have been diluted or removed or indeed decisions have become discretionary or “determinations”, and other barriers have been placed in the way of entitlement which may require legal action or strategic casework to fix.
  • This practical two-hour awareness raising course will help advisers understand the importance of case building in this area and will focus on;

    • What is judicial review and what can it do?
    • What can pre action letters achieve and how to draft them
    • How to identify and navigate strategic cases
    • Who to refer onwards to or obtain guidance from when you spot a suitable case
    • The link to social policy cases

    This course is designed for advisers and others working with clients in the area of social security. It is best suited to those who have already obtained a foundation knowledge of Social Security
