Globalisation: friend or foe?
We live in an increasingly global world. We communicate globally online, buy and produce global products and services, and global movement of people is increasing, whether for leisure, seeking new economic opportunities, or fleeing conflict zones, poverty or climate change impacts. At the same time more and more countries are seeking to assert their national interests (neo-nationalism) and to restrict the international movement of people and trade – Trumpism, anti-immigration, trade wars, Brexit. Will tomorrow's world be global or neo-nationalist?

Whilst some see globalisation as more of a problem, driving over-consumption of natural resources, climate change and economic inequality, others may see it as a solution to society’s problems in a world where global problems demand global solutions rather than competition between nations? Who will win out in this clash of ideologies, how will it affect you and your future, and where do you stand on these issues?

This is your chance to hear arguments on both sides of this debate from two local speakers with different perspectives - Green Party politican and QUB Professor of Green Political Economy, John Barry, and political activist, trade unionist, campaginer and journalist, Eamonn McCann.

Admission is free.  Come along and get involved in one of the most pressing and important debates of our times.
