This session will update your knowledge on Welfare Reform and the impacts on the housing situation of vulnerable and low-income households in Northern Ireland.

The Welfare Reform (NI) Order 2015 represents the biggest shake up of the social security system in Northern Ireland in recent years. It’s implementation continues to impact on people trying to access and maintain their housing.

This session will update your knowledge on Welfare Reform and the impacts on the housing situation of vulnerable and low-income households in Northern Ireland. It will also highlight the types of accommodation and groups of people who will remain on Housing Benefit in the short/medium term.

Outcome of the course

By the end of the session you will have a better understanding of Universal Credit Housing Costs and be better equipped to advise clients on the changes from the Housing Benefit (Legacy system).
