Developed with expertise gained over more than 30 years of working directly with survivors of CSA and sexual violence, this workshop will cover how to keep children and young people safe in schools, youth settings and other organisations. It is suitable for those who have direct contact with children in a workplace or volunteering capacity (e.g. youth leaders, supervisors, teachers, community workers etc.).

Developed with expertise gained over more than 30 years’ of working directly with survivors of sexual violence online and offline, this interactive workshop will explore child protection requirements in an accessible way, and equip attendees with the tools to practise informed, effective safeguarding. Content will include abuse awareness, practical tips and scenario-based discussion, legislation, policy and procedure relating to child protection and reporting procedures.

AIMS

1. To understand the legal context for keeping children and young people safe

2. To improve awareness and understanding of abuse and how it presents

3. To increase knowledge of procedures for reporting concerns

4. To improve ability to carry out safeguarding in practice

5. To increase or reinforce confidence to follow child protection and safeguarding procedures

Time: 10am – 5pm (Registration 9:45am)

Venue: 119 University Street

Cost: £60pp

Tea and coffee will be provided at this event. Lunch will not be provided. Please be aware parking can be difficult, ensure to leave plenty of time to find parking.
