The Big Belfast Hills Balsam Bash

Belfast Hills Partnership
Join Belfast Hills Partnership for the Big Belfast Hills Balsam Bash! Play your part for the environment by helping us to remove invasive Himalayan Balsam from Ballysillan Park and encouraging our native biodiversity to flourish. Get a taste for volunteering or simply come as a one-off good deed!
Invasive species are species that have been introduced usually through human activity (accidentally or deliberately), and have negative impacts on our wildlife and the environment. In the Hills, most of the invasive species we help manage are plants or shrubs, such as Himalayan Balsam, Snowberry, Laurel and Japanese Knotweed. Himalayan Balsam is a persistent problem in the Belfast Hills, but is also one of the easiest for people to help us manage and hopefully eradicate.
We will teach you how to identify and enact the proper technique to remove this invasive species. Please dress accordingly for the weather.
