Causeway Older Active Strategic Team is a partnership funded by the Big Lottery Fund to improve and celebrate the lives of older people across the Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Moyle Council areas.The postholder will be responsible for

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Project Development

  1. Assist the project manager to develop innovative projects which will impact the target beneficiary groups identified in the project outcomes.
  2. To assist the project manager to facilitate programmes with respect to health education, physical activity programmes, peer to peer support, social events, for the beneficiary groups identified within the project outcomes.

Service Delivery

  1. Assess home safety and maintenance requirements
  2. Complete repair/maintenance work as per the agreed COAST Home Safety Service work schedule. Install the carbon monoxide detector or any other equipment as required and as agreed by COAST partnership and the project manager.
  3. Ensure all work and equipment comply to safety regulations and quality standards
  4. Ensure all work and products are fully explained and understood by client
  5. Signpost clients to other services where appropriate.
  6. Maintain and encourage partnership working with other voluntary/community and statutory service providers appropriate to the Home Safety Service across the Causeway Coast and Glens Council areas.

 

Administration

  1. Collect and generate referrals through the agreed methods and organisations
  2. Select the appropriate clients from the referral list based on the agreed Home Safety service criteria
  3. Contact the beneficiaries (and/or their family member or social worker as appropriate) to agree a suitable time and date for the Home Safety Service visit.
  4. Maintain appropriate levels of stock in accordance with agreed procedures
  5. Maintain accurate and complete work records as required
  6. Maintain accurate mileage and expense claim records in accordance with policy
  7. Provide reports and statistics on the Home Safety Service on a monthly basis and as required by the Project Manager
  8. Complete monitoring and evaluation work as required by the project manager and Big Lottery Fund.
  9. Ensure compliance with data protection act

Promotional Activity

  1. Create and roll out an promotional material for the promotion of COAST and the Home Safety Service. Assist the project manager with any promotional activity or event as required.
  2. Promote a positive image of the COAST Partnership
  3. Use all appropriate opportunities to promote the service

Training

  1. Attend training courses as required, apply skills and learning
  2. Make known any procedures or techniques that may be beneficial to others

Other

  1. To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate to the achievement of the purpose and function of this post.
  2. Attend meetings and events as and when required

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

**Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following criteria in their written application form:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

  1. Ability to carry out day to day home maintenance and repairs
  2. A minimum of 1 years of experience, gained within the last five years, of providing activities, and support programmes to the community sector
  3. A minimum of 6 months experience working with elderly or young peoples’ groups.
  4. Must have good numeracy and literacy
  5. Must have demonstrable proficiency in the use of Information Technology, especially Microsoft Office (or equivalent) applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  6. Access to transport as frequent travel between sites may be required - i.e. Full valid driving license and car owner or in the context of the Disability Discrimination Act otherwise able to fulfil the mobility requirements of the post
  7. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some day, evening, and weekend hours to meet scheduling needs.

 

SIFTING CRITERIA

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following essential criteria in their written application and at interview

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

 

  1. Working understanding of community care and home safety issues
  2. Empathy with the issues and concerns affecting older people
  3. Practical skills and expertise using tools and materials to approved standards
  4. Ability to prioritise day-to-day workload for self or team
  5. Ability to make day-to-day decisions about own work
  6. Ability to solve standard problems in own work
  7. Ability to communicate standard work information either verbally or in writing in a clear and concise way

 

SHORTLISTING PROCESS

A shortlist of candidates for interview will be prepared on the basis of the information contained in the application form. It is essential that all applicants demonstrate on their application form how and the extent to which they satisfy each of the Eligibility and Essential Criteria. Only those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will process to the formal sifting process. Those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will then have the information contained in their application forms assessed against the Essential Criteria. In the event of a large volume of candidates, the following Desirable Criteria may also be used.

 

NB: The successful candidates offer of employment will be subject to enhanced Access NI clearance

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

 

  1. Experience of working with a diverse group of partners/customers and stakeholders within a funded project environment.
  2. Experience of working to fixed budgets.
  3. Experience of progress reports (financial and non-financial), monitoring assessments and liaising with the board and project partners.
  4. Knowledge and experience of social media.
  5. 12 months experience of working within disadvantaged areas and with marginalised groups.
  6. demonstrable experience of providing regular promotional and marketing information to the public.
  7. Geographic knowledge of The Causeway Coast and Glens Area area.
