FREE TRAINING - Working more Effectively with Young Users

22nd and 23rd April - This free two-day course is particularly relevant to youth & community workers, probation officers, educators and anyone working in an advice, mentoring, befriending or counselling role with young people.

C.R.U.N. offer free training courses for practitioners working or living in the NDACT area (Antrim, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Carrickfergus, Coleraine, Cookstown, Larne, Magherafelt, Moyle and Newtownabbey)

This two-day course aims to develop skills and understanding among practitioners working at Tiers 1 & 2 who have a remit for working with young people misusing or those at risk of misusing substances. 

This training is particularly relevant to youth & community workers, probation officers, educators and anyone working in an advice, mentoring, befriending or counselling role with young people.

The workshop will cover

  • Why young people use and what they are using;
  • Assessment, models and progression of drug use;
  • Brief interventions;
  • Statistical evidence of use in the Northern Ireland context
  • Harm reduction and young people
