Youth4Peace young ambassador represents Northern Ireland at summit in Georgia

On 9 December 2015, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security. This historical document is the first of its kind to recognize the positive role young people play in building sustainable peace and to lay out the need for governments and other stakeholders to support young people in this role.

The next step is to ensure that this resolution becomes a reality.

Beyond Skin is leading the Youth4Peace campaign in Northern Ireland and we are the all-Ireland representatives and members of UNOY, a network of youth peacebuilding organisations worldwide. Since 2012 UNOY have been working intensively towards adoption of resolution 2250.

As part of the Northern Ireland youth4peace strategy Beyond Skin are identifying Youth4Peace ambassador's which involves them representing Northern Ireland at peace building and youth events around the world.
Our first two Youth4peace ambassadors Melissa McDonagh (Waveney Youth Club) and Andrea Walker (Ballycastle Youth Club) have arrived back from a community development training course in Odemis, Turkey.

On the 8th June young singer/songwriter and peace activist Claire-Louise Turner becomes the third Youth4Peace ambassador to represent us globally - this time at the International Young Leaders summit in Tibilisi, Georgia. The five day summit will gather unique and diverse community of the Europe's most outstanding, next generation leaders. During the Summit participants will discuss about the challenges young people are facing nowadays days globally and will share local community realities, experiences, what opportunities are having young people today to react successfully toward challenges.

A as part of the Youth4Peace initiative, creative workshops and events will be rolled out across Northern Ireland developed and delivered by Youth4Peace ambassadors on behalf of Beyond Skin and clubs and communities they represent. For more information visit  www.beyondskin.net/youth4peace.php
