Triangle service users make a real difference in their local community

“Triangle Housing Association remains one of the most innovative organisations that I have worked with due to their in depth involvement with tenants and service users.”

Comments from CSE Assessor July 2014.

Triangle Housing promotes Service User engagement at every opportunity and actively encourages Service Users to share their experiences with staff.  Service Users are supported to speak at staff conferences, are involved with the recruitment process and have regular input into improving communications.

A recent example of Service User engagement is one of our Service Users, Joe being supported to write a blog for the Triangle staff newsletter – entitled ‘Joe Blogs’

Joe recently completed a self-advocacy course in partnership with ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation network) – Towards Independence Personal Development Programme, the course promotes speaking up for yourself and covered topics such as understanding human rights, understanding equal opportunities and being assertive.

The self-advocacy course has given Joe the confidence to successfully lobby his local council to reduce the speed limit around his home.  Spurred on by his success he is currently campaigning for an extra zebra crossing in his local town.

Staff at Triangle Housing are delighted with Joe’s new found confidence and really look forward to hearing what he has been getting up to in the next staff newsletter.
