As part of Beyond Skin's activities this year to mark their 10th anniversary, manager & founder Darren Ferguson meets the man who inspired the organisations name; musician, artist, producer Nitin Sawhney.

Released in 1999, Nitin’s fourth award winning and critically acclaimed album ‘Beyond Skin’ was a challenge to ideas of identity and nationality.

“My identity and my history are defined only by myself - beyond politics, beyond nationality, beyond religion and Beyond Skin." (Nitin Sawhney)

On the arrival of studio album number 10, Nitin has also marked this point in time through the unplugged album entitled One Zero featuring the acoustic versions of selected tracks across 10 albums.

So as Beyond Skins journey comes full circle WOMAD’s flagship festival in Malmesbury seems to be the perfect meeting place.

2014 is the year, 27th July is the date, the location is Charlton Park and the number is One (1) Zero (0)

An interview with Nitin Sawhney and Beyond Skin manager Darren Ferguson will be online shortly after 27th July.

www.homelyplanet.org radio will be running a special ‘Featured’ week 21st  - 28th July playing Nitin Sawhney albums throughout the week
