New Counselling Service for Kinship Carers

Kinship Care NI have launched a new counselling service for kinship carers living in the Antrim, Draperstown, Cookstown, Larne, Magherafelt and Derry/Londonderry areas.

Across Northern Ireland, an estimated 8,000-10,000 children are being cared for by grandparents and other family members because their own parents are unable to look after them.

Research suggests that children in kinship care do incredibly well living with extended family but their kinship carers experience a great deal of social isolation and mental health difficulties.

The 'Happiness Project' will provide a free confidential counselling service to kinship carers living in the Antrim, Mid Ulster and Derry/Londonderry area.

For more information or to make an appointment contact Michelle on 028 94488202 or Leona on 028 71373731.

Counsellors are BACP registered and AccessNI checked.

NB.  Kinship Care NI operate a strict Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults Policy.
