Future bright for SMEs with help from Electric Ireland and good ‘Connections’

1,500 Northern Ireland Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have received a significant boost with the help of Connections Plus - a direct engagement programme delivered by Business in the Community (BITC) and supported by Electric Ireland.

This three-year programme utilises mentor support and strategic business advice to help companies develop and grow more responsibly and sustainably as well as promoting economically efficient business practices. Having exceeded its three year target of supporting 1,000 businesses, the programme is expected to double its projected engagement with one year still to run.

According to Steve Pollard, Business Development Manager at Business in the Community, the benefits and opportunities the programme affords local SME’s has seen more and more companies want to get involved. They are particularly keen to develop the knowledge and expertise of their employees.

Commenting Steve Pollard said, “Electric Ireland’s support through Connections Plus enables SMEs to gain vital support from a business mentor free of charge, help with environmental audits and access to a range of best practices seminars and events including the adoption of responsible and sustainable business practices.
