Colleges Northern Ireland welcomes legislation to devolve Corporation Tax powers to Stormont

Colleges Northern Ireland, the membership body for the Northern Ireland’s six regional Further Education(FE) Colleges has welcomed the publication of the legislation which will enable corporation tax powers to be devolved to the Northern Ireland Executive.

Gerry Campbell, Chief Executive of Colleges Northern Ireland said:

‘Further Education (FE) is a key enabler in supporting skills and it is critical that FE continues to support government and employers in rebalancing and rebuilding the Northern Ireland economy.  The change in corporation tax will attract business investment from both indigenous and foreign direct investors creating vital business opportunities and much needed jobs for our young people.  The devolution of corporation tax powers has the potential over the long term to create thousands of new jobs and stimulate crucial growth in Northern Ireland’s private sector, leading to a stronger, rebalanced economy.’
