Best Foot Forward For Cancer Focus NI!

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is calling all walkers to put their best foot forward and take part in the Glens of Antrim Challenge Walk on Sunday 24th April at Glenariff Forest Park.

Jillian Wallace, Challenge Events Officer for Cancer Focus NI, said: “This challenge really is open to everyone as there are three distances available to suit all abilities.  All three walks will be led by experienced guides and will start and finish at Glenariff Forest Park with the toughest being an 18 mile hike over forest trails, roads and mountain terrain.  There is also a 12 mile walk over a similar, but easier route, and a 6 mile walk along the main forest trails.

“We are encouraging people of all ages and all levels of fitness to take part to help raise vital funds for Cancer Focus NI. This will truly be a wonderful walk allowing participants to take in some spectacular local sights including the stunning waterfalls, scenic forest trails and the prominent peak of Lurigethan.”

Cancer Focus NI is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and by advising people how to lower their risk of the disease.

Jillian said: “Our work in the community includes cancer support groups, a free helpline on 0800 783 3339, a bra-fitting service for women who’ve had breast surgery, art therapy, creative writing and other therapeutic and complementary services.

“We also have Keeping Well vans that bring health checks to local communities and we bring cancer prevention services to workplaces, schools, sports and social venues.

“All Cancer Focus NI services are provided free of charge for cancer patients and their families but we do need public support to help raise the necessary funds to continue our valuable work.  So please do consider taking part in our Glens of Antrim Challenge Walk, your support really will make a difference.”
