Access All Areas

Barnardo's recently held a seminar on the merits of 'Access All Areas' an England and Wales initiative for care leavers with a view to introducing a similar programme in NI.

The key note speaker at the event was Professor Mike Stein from the Social Policy Research Unit, University of York,  He was joined by Kenny McGhee, Through Care and Aftercare Programme Lead at the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland - he described the Scottish experience of bringing about the Scottish Care Leavers Covenant - a cross-sector alliance aiming to improve services and outcomes for care leavers which is launched today (Thurs 22 October 2015).  The third speaker was Holly Padfield-Paine, Rearch and Policy Officer with The Prince's Trust. Holly manages the Trust's five year research project 'From Care to Independence' . Access All Areas is an England and Eales initiative whcih brings local and central services together to promote stability and continuity for care leavers. The seminar was held with a view to establishing a similar NI interagency collaboration.
