Specialist Home Dialysis Assistant

Extra Care

As a Specialist Home Dialysis Assistant will be responsible for supporting end stage Renal Patients with their Dialysis activities so that they can continue to live independently at home.

1.         You will be responsible for setting up and stripping down Dialysis Machine.

 

2.         You will be responsible for checking for signs of infection and reporting to patients PD Nurse if problems should arise.

 

3.         You will be responsible for checking patient’s blood pressure, weight ordering prescription and complete and maintain accurate records.

 

4.         You will be responsible for checking PD Catheter exit site and redressing as appropriate.

 

 

5.        You will be aware of Patients changing needs and report to Line Manager

 

           

6.         To participate in formal and informal, individual and group supervisions as required.

 

7.         To ensure that all medication is administered in accordance with Extra Care’s       procedures.

 

8.         To observe all aspects of Extra Care Health and Safety policies and procedures.

 

9.         To ensure that patient services are delivered by working within a flexible rota and by answering/responding to emergency calls if required.

 

10.       To comply with Extra Care’s regulations in relation to confidentiality.

 

 

 

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience

 

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

  • Minimum of 12 months experience of working in Care setting.

  • Excellent Communication skills including, report writing

  • Clean U.K. Driving License and use of a car for work purposes.

     

Desirable Criteria and Experience

 

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care

  • It is desirable that employees would be registered with NISSC.
