Promotions and Communications Intern

Since early 2015, the GLP has been supporting schools across Northern Ireland to embed education for a fair and sustainable world. Currently, 35% of all NI schools are participating in the programme, which is managed by the Centre for Global Education and funded by the UK government.

There will be two main components to the role of GLP Promotions and Communications Intern:

• Assisting with the recruitment of schools through the creation of promotional material.
• Supporting the dissemination of relevant global learning resources, opportunities, events and news stories to teachers.

The successful candidate will work closely with the GLP Promotions and Communications Officer, who will be their line manager. They will be expected to work 12 hours per week, with a start date in September 2017. The internship will run until February 2018 and may be further extended. On the job training will be provided and travel/food expenses will be reimbursed.

Skills criteria:

• An interest in international development, global justice issues and global learning.
• Experience of promotions and communications (through study or work experience).
• Good organizational skills.
• IT skills to include knowledge of the core programmes in the Microsoft Office package.
• A willingness to learn new skills.
• The ability to communicate confidently by email and phone.
• The ability to work as part of a team.
• Website and/or social media experience is desirable.
