Assist with the development, presentation, communication and promotion of a progressive policy agenda.

1.         Liaise with, and provide support to, the Party’s elected representatives, spokespersons, officers, party organs and staff on all aspects of policy development. Such support to include the preparation and development of policy papers, briefings and initiatives and assistance in preparation of speeches.

 2.         Assist and service the Policy Committee and its sub-committees in the co-ordination and implementation of their annual programmes of work.

 3.         Develop and maintain extensive research materials on a range of policy areas. 

 4.         Develop and maintain internal and external policy networks.

 5.         Assist in responding to enquiries from Party members and the general public, academics and press sources.  Present party policy positions to visiting delegations when requested.

 6.         Attend and report as required at meetings of the Executive Committee, Parliamentary/Assembly Group, Annual Conference and other fora as appropriate.

 7.         Assist in the preparation of election manifestos.

 8.         Assist in preparation for annual conference, conferences, seminars and other party policy events.

 9.         Promote awareness of party policy throughout all levels of the wider party, through provision of information, policy briefings and policy events as required.

 10.       Assist in identifying and developing opportunities for the communication and promotion of party objectives and policies, particularly in the media and with relevant key stakeholders, NGOs, trade unions and other organisations.

11.       Assist party delegations in preparing for meetings with government, statutory bodies, NGOs and other organisations.

12.       Assist in briefing of party members and elected representatives in advance of media and other interviews.

13.       Undertake such other duties as may be determined by the Executive Committee.
