The IRRP project is a mentoring scheme providing intensive resettlement support in support of the work of PBNI by assisting males under the age of 30 in critical stage of transition from custody to community. It is regional and will "follow the offender"
- Identify and create opportunities for Mentees that support transition from custody to community ensuring that they are engaging with the right services to help them resettle free from recall and reoffending.
Work to support the personal development plan drawn up by PBNI and NIPS in custody.
Meet with mentees in advance and at the gate on their day of release and stay with them during that first day to provide appropriate practical support.
Maintain contact and see mentees on a daily basis for the first week and, if required, for longer to provide continued practical support as identified by PBNI in their ACE assessment.
Work in co-operation with key agencies involved in providing services to support integration and social inclusion to reduce re-offending
Contribute to the recruitment and training of shadow support volunteers to provide support to mentees.
Maintain quality standards in service delivery for Adults in the community.
Regularly meet with Probation Officers and provide effective, professional, secure and timely feedback within 1-2 working days and a report for each mentee within 2 weeks of completion.
Identify, negotiate and support a range of practical resettlement resources including accommodation, benefits, suitable training, placement and employment opportunities and other appropriate resources in relation to the clients release plan to assist in increased self esteem , social and family reintegration
Engage and contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of IRRP
Completion of base line and exit questionnaires. Accurate monitoring and recording of progress against agreed targets.
