Bailie Connor Training seek to appoint a Joinery Tutor to deliver training programmes to young people aged 16 - 25 years old.

We are currently recruiting for a Joinery Tutor within our Training Division; to be based at our Dunmurry training centre.

The successful candidates will be responsible for the execution of duties in relation to the delivery of construction qualifications.

The position is permanent position. Hours of work are 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday.

Main Duties will include;

Induct learners into their qualification in line with the qualifications induction requirements.

Assist in the design and preparation of materials, resources and information to be used in respect of programme delivery and ensure lesson plans are prepared for directed training sessions.

Ensure placements are well matched to the learners’ programme.

Carry out the delivery of individual or group training sessions using differentiated teaching and learning strategies in accordance with the schemes of work and lesson plans.

Carry out the assessment of candidate performance and portfolio assessment, and present portfolios when requested to both the IV and EV, ensuring Awarding Body requirements are met at all times.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE (or any qualification which is deemed to be equivalent) in English (Grade A* – C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication;
  • GCSE (or any qualification which is deemed to be equivalent) in Maths (Grade A* – C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy,
  • Five years relevant industrial, professional or business experience
  • Qualification in Wood Occupations / Carpentry & Joinery at Level 3 or above
  • Qualification in vocational assessment ( A1 award or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or D32/D33 award)
  • Certificate in Teaching (University of Ulster ) B Ed, PGCE or PGCFHE
